Bathroom Design

Most bathroom design focuses on either how it looks or how it works. I focus on both — equally.

And I’m going to show you exactly what that looks like, and how our process works to save our clients time, money, and stress.

What our bathroom design service covers

We sit in the middle of two worlds.

On one side, you have an interior decorator who will change colours and finishes but won’t touch the floor plan. On the other, you have a builder or plumber who can help with the layout but not the palette or details.

Our background and approach to bathroom design includes the practical side of plumbing — understanding toilet set‑outs, drainage and fixtures — and bringing that together with the aesthetic, so the room feels like your home and works like a well‑run workspace.

This client came to me wanting to keep her existing layout and just update the colours and bathroomware.

Instead, we redesigned the floor plan and gave her a warmer, more functional bathroom she loves, for only a fraction more money she had allocated, but a much better result.

Let’s talk about it.

This bathroom sat on the south side of the house and it felt it.

Dark, gloomy, cold and not a place you wanted to be. The layout made no sense, with the toilet in a far corner, a small bath, a shower tucked away, and no storage at all, just a pedestal basin that only had space for soap.

If we had only updated colours and materials, it might have looked warmer, but it would still have been awkward to use. We chose to slightly increase the budget and shift the timeline so we could fix the layout first, and make sure the money went into a bathroom that works for everyday life, not just one that looks different.

This is not the case for every client, but here the priority was getting the functionality right so they were not spending money on a space that still didn’t work.

We completely re‑worked the floor plan, using the long, narrow shape to our advantage.

The bathrooms width was the perfect size for a built‑in bath and shower in one wet area, which makes cleaning easier and suits life with two young kids who splash water everywhere.

We added a proper vanity with ample storage and bench space on either side of the basin, and recessed a mirror cabinet into the wall so it works as both a feature and everyday storage. The toilet is tucked out of sight when the door is open, yet still easy to reach, which matters when it is the primary toilet. The result is a bathroom that feels cosy, practical and worth the extra effort, rather than a space that only looks different on the surface.

That’s exactly why we follow our signature bathroom design framework, FLO™.
